Sooke Canada Day 2007 Youth
Awards
Canada Day is a time to show pride in our great
nation,
and a time to recognize the youth of the land.
This award is designed to recognize outstanding achievements and
contributions of young people in their communities
and to the betterment of Canada.
2007 Awards: Cameron Gray, Chelsea Ousey and Lisa Marie Brownlow from
Belmont Secondary School and Kelly Anne Howe, Ethan Swinburnson, Taylor
Nagy, and Emily Irwin from Edward Milne Community School were presented
this award by Brenda Parkinson, District of Sooke Councilor.

Celebrating Outstanding Young Canadians Individuals, schools, colleges,
universities, community groups and businesses can nominate a young
person 18 years and younger who exemplifies the qualities of citizenship
that strengthen our social fabric and enrich our national life.
This young person must have made a truly exceptional contribution
in any number of areas. This could include, but is certainly not
limited to: Community Participation, Promotion of Canadian values,
and Sustainable Development Initiatives.
Nomination Rules
* Candidates must be 18 years of age or younger at the time of their
nomination.
* Candidates must have made a truly exceptional contribution. A
minimum of 100 hours of community service is suggested.
* Nominees must be present at the awards ceremony, or have a friend
or relative to accept the award on their behalf.

students awarded the Department
of Canadian Heritage Canada Day Youth Award.
